As we continue to observe this year's bicentennial of Greek Independence, the Metropolis uses this historic moment to focus on a somber anniversary in the struggle for Hellenism: the Fall of the Queen City of Constantinople, on May 29th, 1453. If we look at March 25th, 1821 as the fulfillment of the 400-year struggle to regain our freedom, we commemorate the Fall of the City as a memorial to those who fell in defense of their faith and country, and even as part of an ongoing struggle to maintain religious freedom in Constantinople.
Χριστός Ανέστη! On Sunday, May 8th 2021, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Charlotte, North Carolina welcomed our chief shepherd and spiritual father, Metropolitan +Alexios, to celebrate the Divine Liturgy on Mother’s Day. Before the conclusion of the Liturgy, His Eminence elevated Fr. Vasileios Tsourlis, Dean of the Cathedral and Vicar of the Northeast Conference, to the office of Protopresbyter. His Eminence also tonsured members of the Cathedral’s acolyte team. ΑΞΟΙ!

In a spirit of gratitude for our Lady's continued loving protection, I am pleased to invite the faithful of the Metropolis to celebrate a Hierarchical Orthros (at 7:30 AM) and Divine Liturgy (8:45 AM), and then, in a procession around the lake of our Diakonia Retreat Center with the miraculous Vimatarissa Icon, so that we too can honor our Panagia, praying for all our Metropolis family.
