by Fr. Matthew Carter, Proistamenos, Annunciation Church (Mobile, AL)
On Friday, November 1, His Grace Bishop Sevastianos of Zelon, on behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, attended the 8th annual Greek Fest Charity Gala at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Mobile, Alabama. During the event, money was raised for the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew Foundation and the Women’s Resource Center of Mobile. Fulfilling a commitment made at the Gala in 2023 to Archon Commander Dr. Anthony Limberakis, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and Greek Fest Charity Gala became Founders of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew Foundation, paid in full, raising $100,000 for the foundation. Archon Dr. Dimitris Kyriazis spoke to the faithful and patrons of the Gala about the foundation and the important work being done by the Archons to promote religious freedom for the Patriarchate. His Grace Bishop Sevastianos also spoke about His All Holiness our Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the history and significance of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to all Christians. Dr. Stephanie Grosz and Ryane L. Fulgham, co-chairs of the Greek Fest Charity Gala, along with Rev. Fr. Matthew Carter, proistamenos of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Mobile and Vicar of the Western Conference of the Metropolis of Atlanta, and Archons Greg Saad and Dr. Dimitris Kyriazis, were honored to receive confirmation of being named Founders to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew Foundation and pray that other communities within our Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America will be inspired to raise support and awareness for our Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople.
