On Sunday February 12, 2018, Archbishop Demetrios of America received the Gold Medal of Saint Barnabas, the founder of the Church of Cyprus. Present at the ceremony were the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, the First Lady Andri Anastasiades and many leaders of the political and academic sectors.
