His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios welcomed participants and weekend retreat leader, Dr Gayle Woloschak Friday through Sunday, May 11-13 for the 2nd Annual Retreat of the Holy Unmercenaries Medical Society. Everyone agreed it was spiritually edifying, timely, and informative.
 
The retreat theme was “The Intersection of Faith, Technology, and the Healing Arts". Participants discussed the importance of the Orthodox Christian faith amidst the rapidly changing technological landscape in the healthcare field. The importance of prayer, Church, and dialogue were emphasized.
 
Dr Woloschak led discussions amidst morning and evening corporate prayer. With the peaceful and beautiful backdrop of the Diakonia Retreat Center, HUMS members and their families enjoyed a relaxing and informative weekend. The retreat culminated with the Divine Liturgy in the new Panagia Chapel officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios.
