Dear Metropolis of Atlanta Healthcare professional,

I am excited to invite you to this year’s HUMS retreat. We are continuing the theme of “Cultivating Spiritual and Physical Wellness in a World of Illness” Last year we focused on end of life and mental health and this year I am excited to introduce Cynthia Damaskos and Molly Sebourin of Holistic Christian Life and their program of Nutrition and Lifestyle in the context of our Orthodox Faith as tools for our own spiritual and physical health as well as that of the people we serve.

Preliminary Itinerary

Friday, September 20

5-6 PM                         Check-in, cabin assignments

6-6:30 PM                    Paraklisis

7-8 PM                         Dinner

8-9 pm                         A special presentation with an Orthodox Christian who lives with chronic                                 disease: The role of her Faith in the course of her disease and life. What can we as practitioners learn from her?

9 PM                            Light refreshments and fellowship

Saturday, September 21

8 AM                            Morning prayer

8:30 AM                       Breakfast

9:30 - 1200 PM            Session 1 Filled with Less: Cynthia Damaskos and Molly Sabourin Retreat Leaders 

Functional, Nutrition, and Lifestyle Management to help people cope with chronic diseases and empower them to reach their health and lifestyle goals in a Christ-centered way through the practices of the spiritual life established in the Orthodox Faith.

1200 -1:00 PM             Lunch

1:00 - 4:00 PM             Session 2 Filled with Less: Cynthia Damaskos and Molly Sabourin Retreat Leaders  

                       NOTE: AM and PM sessions will include coffee breaks and breakout sessions

4:00 - 5:30 PM             Free time

5:30 - 6:30 PM             Vespers

7:00 - 8:00 PM             Dinner

                                     Followed by evening fellowship reception and bonfire

Sunday, September 22

7:30 am                        Matins followed by Divine Liturgy

10:30 am                      Brunch and reflections - an open forum

Noon                            Departure
