Dear Clergy, Parish Council Presidents, Treasurers, & Parish Council Members,
On behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios, I am inviting you to a Metropolis Town Hall Webinar to inform you regarding 2020 Archdiocese Covid-19 PPP Sharing Program & 2021 Clergy Pension Benefits Funding. It will be Thursday, November 5, 2020, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. EST. Each Parish Priest, Parish Council President, and Parish Council Treasurer are asked to participate. Preregistration is required (see below).
In advance of our meeting, I encourage you to read the following three supporting documents, preregister as soon as possible, and submit questions you have after reading the three documents. While questions can be submitted during the meeting, your advance questions will be addressed first during our Town Hall Webinar Meeting so that we can manage our time efficiently. The meeting is scheduled for when most of our Metropolis eat lunch so that we can minimize your absence from work – consider bringing your sandwich/food so you can meet and eat! We thank our Central Time Zone participants for their patience with our schedule.
Covid-19 Relief, 2020 PPP Sharing Program - The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese applied for and received a total of $2.4 million Covid-19 relief as part of the Payroll Protection Program (PPP). The Archdiocese Executive Committee has made the decision to share this PPP relief with the Metropolises. Each Metropolis will receive a share equal to its share of the Archdiocese 2020 Total Commitment budget. Click here to view the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America PPP Sharing Program.
2021 Clergy Pension Benefits Funding - At present, each parish of the Archdiocese is required to pay $700 monthly to fund the Clergy Pension Benefits regardless of the parish’s size. In the past, for various reasons, certain parishes did not participate in paying $700 monthly. At this year’s National Clergy-Laity Congress, a new methodology was proposed and adopted for pension and ancillary benefits funding whose goal is to include 100 percent of our parishes and distribute the burden fairly by using the same proportion as expenditures computed for the TC Allocation. To achieve this aim, a joint Archdiocese Benefits Committee (ABC)/Finance Committee task force was empowered to devise this new methodology that would improve the fairness and transparency of benefits funding for implementation in 2021. After much work and after having received the blessings and support of every Metropolis, the new program will take effect January 1, 2021.
